Nova Scotia - Halifax
A winning combination: family, friends and fundraising – oh and laser tag too!
Traditionally, the Halifax Walk site, features many activities for kids to enjoy including face painters, a balloon-making clown and bounce castles. The newest addition to the site, Action Laser Tag, proved to be an enjoyable activity for even the bigger “kids” with parents and children teaming up to take on a Laser Tag challenge. Donated by the owners, the activity proved to not only be an exciting one, but it also added to the spirit of the Walk for Kids Help Phone in bringing people together as a community in support of kids.
New Glasgow
A determined group of Empire Theatres employees and family members who walk for the kids each year worked with the Kids Help Phone Atlantic Office to organize a workplace walk. Their Social Committee hosted a charity hot dog barbecue out in front of the local Sobeys store and raised $450 for Kids Help Phone! But the fundraising didn’t stop there, they also held an Earth Day photo contest and made 8x10 prints of the beautiful photos and sold them for $5 with all funds going to the Walk.
Internal competitions were a big hit too and a challenge was posed amongst the Leadership team to raise a minimum of $500.00 each or they would be working the front line in a designated theatre. The Leaders being very competitive took the challenge and ran with it!
With Kids Help Phone as their national charity all of their employees are very passionate when showing support. Thank you!
